As requested by Mr.Linny, here's something a tourist would ask:
Tourist: Excuse me, what time should we gather back here and wait for the tour bus?
Tourist: Wow, what's that big lake over there?
Tour Guide: That would be the ocean.
Tourist (in the city center): We have been here all day and we haven't seen any kangaroo or koala bear!
Tourist (pointing at a church): Wow, this mosque is huge!
Tourist: How long is the 2-hour Downtown sight-seeing Tour?
Tourist (on a bus in London): OH, that was a different monument? I thought it was the same one that I saw in Paris.
Tourist: Do you have any photographs of the castle under construction? (the castle was built 900 years ago!)
Tourist: Why did they build the Stonehenge so far away from London?
See? Tourists ask dumb questions during a vacation. So now you know the difference?
Tourists don't explore by themselves. Tourists don't gather info (i.e., basic geography, language and dialects, capital city and major towns, local culture, safety and dangers) before they travel to the destination. Tourists rush in to see things and rush out in a hurry because the tour bus is waiting. Tourists treat the locals like part of the sightseeing objects. Tourists rely everything on the tour guide.
You travel to have new experiences, not just travel because you want to travel.
